Garage & ADU Rebuild: Clean Design, Eaton Fire Recovery, Builder-Ready
We’re Altadena homeowners with deep roots in the community. I’m a lifelong resident, born and raised here, rebuilding after the Eaton Fire, and we’re ready to move forward with a well-planned, permit-ready project. Our detached garage and office were a total loss in the fire, and we’re taking the opportunity to rebuild smarter, with a larger two-car garage and a new ADU attached to it where there was none before.
The project is a 693 SF two-car garage with a 754 SF ADU above, sited toward the rear of a 9,000+ SF lot. The existing single-family home on the property survived and is currently undergoing its own renovation. Once it and the ADU are complete, we plan to move back home.
Plans are clean and builder-friendly, with a straightforward footprint, traditional residential construction, and no unusual site complications.
The ADU is designed as a real, comfortable living space: with good natural light, an efficient layout, and finishes that feel intentional rather than afterthoughts. This isn’t a tacked-on unit; it was conceived from the start as a livable, long-term, flexible space.
What we’re looking for in a builder:
Proven ADU experience and familiarity with LA County permitting and rebuild requirements
Clear, consistent communication throughout the project
Someone who takes pride in solid residential work and keeps things organized from groundbreak to final inspection
This is a great fit for a builder who thrives on clean, well-scoped residential work and understands the specific care required for fire recovery rebuilds. We’re ready to move fast with the right partner.
